Total public expenditure for 2004-05 is estimated to be $286 billion, or 22.5 per cent of GDP. The estimated figure for 2008-09 will be $259.3 billion, or 16.9 per cent of the GDP forecast for that year, in line with the Government's target of containing public expenditure at 20 per cent of GDP or below. |
